PROPOSITION 8 was a statewide ballot proposition in California which eliminated the rights of same-sex couples to marry. It was approved by voters on Nov 4, 2008. This made same sex marriage illegal in California. These portraits were taken at a protest rally held in front of City Hall in San Francisco after the ballot was passed.
